Marionberry daiquiri

Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz rum, 1 oz lime juice, 1/2 oz simple syrup, 1 tbsp Marionberry jam, 2 drops orange flower water. Shake with ice and strain into a chilled glass.

Verdict: Despite my disappointment with the craft strawberry daiquiri, I decided to try the same recipe with a different jam. This one turned out MUCH better, I think because: 1. I knew what I was doing; and 2. the jam was better quality. This was very tasty and unique!

El presidente no. 2
Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz light rum, 3/4 oz dry vermouth, 1 dash Angostura bitters. Stir with ice and strain into a chilled glass.

According to legend, this cocktail is named el presidente because Cuban president Carmen Menocal tried to serve it to President Calvin Coolidge during a state visit once. But since this was during Prohibition, Coolidge reportedly declined, making him possibly the only person who didn’t drink during Prohibition.
Anywho… I kind of liked this cocktail. It looked very elegant and it tasted surprisingly complex considering there aren’t many ingredients. I recommend it!

This is a cute-looking lady drink. Unfortunately, the orange juice did not work for me in this. It just tasted off.

I’m not sure why this is called a white lion when it’s so pink. Perhaps it was named after a club. Honestly, this drink did not stand out to me from my Pink Drink Phase. I suppose it was okay.

Strawberry daiquiri
Ingredients: In a shaker, muddle 2 chopped strawberries, 1 oz lime juice, 1/2 oz simple syrup. Add 1 oz light rum and shake everything with ice, then strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
I do love strawberry daiquiris, and this one was really easy to make and tasted of summer. Yum. The only issue I had was that the strawberry seeds were a bit annoying. I also recommend making sure you have all the strawberry pieces out of your shaker before you put it in the dishwasher, because that stuff doesn’t come off.

Bumbo
Ingredients: Combine in a glass 2 oz rum, 1 oz chilled water, 2 sugar cubes, a sprinkle of cinnamon and a sprinkle of nutmeg.

Most people think pirates’ favorite cocktail was grog, but actually they had more sophisticated taste than that. Grog was for the poor schmucks in the Royal Navy; pirates preferred (and could afford) the bumbo cocktail, which tasted much better. George Washington also liked bumbo cocktails and would serve this drink to his constituents on election day.
This cocktail was surprisingly tasty. You might want to add an ice cube to make it colder, but I would definitely for the person who gave me a few of these.
