Metropolitan Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz brandy, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 1/2 tsp simple syrup, 2 dashes Angostura. Shake with ice and strain into a chilled glass. Source: cocktails.about.com Sometimes you really want a manhattan, but you don’t feel like having whiskey AGAIN. A simple solution is a metropolitan, which is basically a manhattan with brandy. I’ve tried several versions of a metropolitan, with varying success, but this one was pretty good. Plus I have to say this cocktail was pretty dang swank.
