Brandy crusta
Ingredients: 2 oz brandy, 1/2 oz orange curacao, 1/2 oz lemon juice, 2 dashes Boker’s or Angostura bitters. Rim the edge of a glass with sugar (see here for instructions, replacing salt with sugar). Put a lemon spiral inside the glass, then shake the liquid ingredients together with ice and strain into the glass.

The brandy crusta was invented in 1850, at the City Exchange bar in New Orleans, and both the margarita and sidecar are its direct descendants. As we all know, I love sidecars, so I liked the taste of this cocktail. But I totally did not prep the glass right. I think I should have used regular sugar instead of powdered sugar on the rim (cuz, you know, that really doesn’t look appetizing); and I can’t cut a lemon spiral for the life of me. The way it’s supposed to be presented sounds pretty cool.
